The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Zamfara State Command, has intercepted two trucks loaded with cows suspected to be rustled by miscreants from Tsafe Local Government Area, en route Damba Area, a suburb of Gusau metro.

Briefing newsmen at the State Command Headquarters, Gusau, the State Commandant of the Corps, Sani Mustapha, averred that in his resilient efforts to purge the State of all manner of criminalities, the Corps had the cows numbering 24 and 1 sheep on their way from Tsafe to Gusau.

Mustapha stated that the suspects who wanted to smuggle the cows to Gusau at night decided to offload them at Damba Area, a suburb of Gusau, at about 7 pm on the 31st December 2023.

“Working on intelligent reports, the Corps confronted the suspects and on sighting the officers, they took to their heels. The cows were conveyed with two canter trucks with plate numbers TSF 329 SA Zamfara and AG 160 BW Abuja, respectively,” he said.

The State NSCDC boss said the cows have been handed over to the State Ministry for Security and Home Affairs.

Mustapha, however, warned all criminal elements to desist from anything that contravenes the administrative policies of Governor Lawal Dauda in the fight against insecurity in the state.

“You may recall that the State Government had banned the sale of cows in some local government areas including Tsafe Local Government Area where these cows were suspected to have been conveyed from,” he said.
