As Apple shifts towards USB-C connectivity, the forthcoming iPhone 15 variants may experience a boost in charging speed, potentially reaching up to 35W. According to information gathered from industry insiders, there are indications that “at least certain” iPhone 15 models possess the capability to charge at this elevated wattage.
Presently, the iPhone 14 models offer a peak charging capacity of approximately 27W, although the Pro models can achieve slightly quicker charging rates. A boost to 35W would notably hasten the charging process.
While Apple no longer includes a power adapter with the iPhone, it currently advises using a 20W+ charger for expedited charging. If the upcoming iPhone 15 models indeed accommodate up to 35W charging, Apple might consider suggesting its 30W MacBook Air charger or its 35W Dual USB-C charger to optimize charging speed.
In the earlier part of this year, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo anticipated that the iPhone 15 models would facilitate swifter charging velocities, attributing this enhancement to the shift towards USB-C connectivity. He indicated that these augmented speeds could be harnessed through MFi-certified USB-C chargers, which encompasses the 20W power adapter.
Rumors have circulated suggesting that Apple might confine the accelerated charging capabilities to MFi-certified cables and chargers, with a likelihood that the utmost charging speeds could be reserved specifically for the iPhone 15 Pro models.
