Rivers United captain, Nyima Nwagua has revealed that the team’s target is to make it to the final of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Pride of Rivers were knocked out in the quarter-final last year by Tanzanian outfit, Young African.

Nwagua said the team is focused on beating their quarter-final opponent, USMA.

Rivers United will trade tackles with USM Alger in the first leg of the quarter-final tie at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Sunday (today).

“The team is prepared and focused, the mentality is high and the team spirit is also high,” he told a pre-match press conference.

“For us to be in this competition, you have to beat the best side. We know what is at stake.

“It was a bitter taste last season, we were there, we got the result we didn’t want, we picked the positives and left the negatives, now we want to correct our mistakes and we want to surpass our last season record.”
