The Senator representing Kaduna Central in the National Assembly, Sen. Lawal Adamu Usman has expressed dismay over Thursday’s abduction of primary school pupils and teachers in Chikun Local Government Area.

Senator Usman, in a statement he personally issued, noted with concern that in the last few weeks of the year 2024, Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone had witnessed escalation of tensions as result of terrorists’ attacks, killings and abductions in several communities in Kajuru, Chikun, Birnin-Gwari, Giwa and Igabi Local government areas.

He called on the government to take decisive steps to bring the situation under control.

He lamented that the spate of gruesome attacks and abductions in recent days had demoralized the citizens and further put them in a traumatic condition without any sign of relief.

He added, “Today, I am saddened and in a state of rude shock at the abduction of pupils of primary school and students of Secondary School at Kuriga, Chikun local government area along the dreaded Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna highway.

“As a Senator representing the area, I extend my deepest sympathy to all the parents and families of the pupils and students and all those that lost their precious lives.”

The Senator noted that the security forces were working assiduously to bring the children back safely and urged governments at all levels and the security forces to be more proactive, rather than reactive in dealing decisively with miscreants terrorizing the communities.

He stressed that there was the need to take the fight to the doorstep of the terrorists.
