Operatives of the Uyo Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested two suspected illegal forex traders, Surajo Umar and Muhammed Sadiq Lawal.

EFCC, in a post on its official X handle on Friday, said they were arrested at Udi Street in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, while selling dollars without appropriate licences.

The statement said Umar and Lawal’s arrest followed credible intelligence on their suspected involvement in illegal foreign exchange transactions.

It further added that they will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
