Augustine Ojekepha was the hero as Rivers United recorded a slim 1-0 win over Algerian club, USM Alger, in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-final tie in Uyo on Sunday.

Okejepha slotted home the decisive goal in the 10th minute of the encounter.

USM Alger, who struggled to cope with the harsh weather condition in Uyo, rarely gained a foothold on the game.

Rivers United could have made the scoreline more emphatic but for their poor marksmanship.

The reverse fixture will hold in Algiers next week Sunday.

Stanley Eguma’s side are looking to become the first Nigerian club to win the CAF Confederation Cup.
