Super Eagles fullback, Bright Osayi-Samuel, has revealed he suffered food poisoning this week.

This comes a day before Nigeria play Côte d’Ivoire in their second Group A clash of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Osayi-Samuel started on the bench in the 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea, with head coach Jose Peseiro opting for star Ola Aina in his starting XI.

However, Osayi-Samuel replaced Aina in the second half of that encounter, as the Eagles chased after a second goal.

The Fenerbahce star would have been looking forward to making his full AFCON debut against the Ivorians on Thursday. But his availability is now in doubt, as he experienced food poisoning that had made him weak.

“I got food poisoning. Today, I’m a bit weak, but I should be okay,” Osayi-Samuel told reporters.
