Manchester United striker, Joe Hugill has expressed joy after leaving manager Erik ten Hag’s pre-season squad to join Wigan Athletic on loan for the 2024/2025 season.

The 20-year-old was handed the no.9 shirt at the League One club.

Recall that Hugill scored Man United’s second goal as Ten Hag’s men defeated Rangers 2-0 in a pre-season friendly clash a few days ago.

“I am delighted to be here,” Hugill told Wigan’s official website after joining the club on Thursday.

“It’s been a long time coming, but I am over the moon to get it done, and I can’t wait to get started.

“To get the no.9 shirt is a massive honour and I will wear it with pride.

“Hopefully, I can show what I can do with it.”
