Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, wants Bernardo Silva to remain at Etihad amid reported interest from Barcelona.

Silva has been linked with a move to Barcelona this summer.

Speaking at the Legends Trophy golf tournament, Guardiola said the Portuguese is a fundamental player for the Premier League champions, expressing his desire for him to stay at the club.

“Barca has never called. There has been a lot of talk for years but no one has called us,” Guardiola said.

“I hope he stays, he’s a fundamental player for us, a gem of a player, as a person. If you want a player you’ve to call him, and it has not happened.”

Silva was impressive for Pep Guardiola’s side last season as he helped them to win the Premier League title.
