Akwa United chairman Paul Bassey says the Promise Keepers have received applications from top coaches in Nigeria and abroad for the club’s vacant coaching job.

The former Nigeria Premier Football League champions are looking for a new gaffer after Fatai Osho quit the post this week.

Bassey said the club will take their time before appointing a new coach.

“We have received so many applications home and abroad and we are not in a hurry to make a decision. For now, the assistant coaches led by Umar Abdullahi are in charge of the team,” the seasoned administrator told the club’s media.

Akwa United are languishing in 17th position on the NPFL table.

The Uyo club will host Sunshine Stars in a matchday 15 fixture on Thursday (today).
