The Emir of Fika and Chairman, Yobe State Council of Traditional Rulers Alhaji Muhammadu Abali Ibn Muhammadu Idrisa, has called on the management of Yobe State Internal Revenue Service to block all leakages in the revenue collection process.

The royal father made the call when the management and staff of the Yobe State Internal Revenue Service paid him a courtesy visit at his palace in Potiskum town.

“You should double your efforts towards enlightening people on the importance of paying tax”, he stressed.

Responding, the Acting Chairman of the Yobe State Internal Revenue Service, Idris Mohammed Disa told the monarch that they were in his palace to seek royal blessings as the Service embarks on improving its revenue generation drive in the state.

He added that the move was part of efforts towards improving revenue generation in the state.

The Service also held a sensitization meeting with stakeholders on Inter State Road Tax Sticker (ISRTS) and Single Haulage Fees (SHFs) in Potiskum on Tuesday, 19th December, 2023.

“Your Royal Highness, these are streams of revenue that were introduced by the Joint Tax Board (JTB) nationwide to avert multiple taxations on the nation’s highway.

“Like many other states, Yobe State has since keyed in the programme,” Disa noted.
