France Football are said to be considering handing the 2020 Ballon d’Or award to Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski.

Lewandowski, who won the treble with Bayern Munich that year, was denied the famous golden ball after the ceremony was cancelled because of COVID-19 restrictions.

However, according to Diario Sport journalist Ivan San Antonio, France Football are considering giving the 2020 Ballon d’Or award to the Poland international this year, although nothing has been decided yet.

The 2019-20 season was the greatest of Lewandowski’s career.

He scored 55 goals in all competitions, helping Bayern Munich to their second European treble.

The former Dortmund star was also the top scorer in the Bundesliga (34 goals) and the Champions League (15 goals).
