Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Christopher Nkunku will not play in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Middlesbrough on Tuesday.

Pochettino is under pressure to win the game after his side lost 1-0 at the Riverside Stadium two weeks ago

But he will be without Nkunku, who has only played four times since arriving from RB Leipzig last year.

Nkunku suffered a serious knee injury in pre-season, before picking up a hip problem in training over the Christmas and New Year period.

Pochettino said: “Nkunku is not available. It’s a shame. He’s still recovering.

“He suffered a little bit in his hip, now he’s recovering.

“It’s not a big issue. It just delayed the possibility of being available again.”
