Argentina International, Angel Di Maria has delivered his verdict on ex-Real Madrid teammate Karim Benzema.
According to him, the France international deserved the Ballon d’Or he won in 2022.
Benzema won the award ahead of Sadio Mane and Erling Haaland in October 2022 following his remarkable performances with Real Madrid in the 2021-22 season.
The striker scored 44 goals and recorded 15 assists in 46 appearances across all competitions.
He inspired Los Blancos to claim the Champions League, La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup.
Di Maria told L’Equipe, “Benzema is a player with a quality that’s unique: it’s as if you don’t see him, and then suddenly, without warning, he grabs the ball, takes out two or three players & delivers a decisive pass or scores a goal. He deserved to win the Ballon d’Or.”
