The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced the appointment of Aliyu Zubairu as new Flying Eagles head coach.

The NFF in a statement on Tuesday said Zubairu was recommended by its Technical and Development Sub-Committee.

The gaffer’s appointment, according to the NFF, takes immediate effect.

Zubairu led El-kanemi Warriors to win the Nigeria President Federation Cup in June.

He also masterminded the Maiduguri club’s promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Zubairu’s immediate task is to put together and prepare a team for the WAFU B U-20 Championship.

The competition is scheduled for October/November in Togo, where the zone’s representative will emerge for next year’s Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
