Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has confirmed that new signing Mikel Merino has injured his shoulder.

Merino only signed for the Gunners this week from Real Sociedad.

But Arteta, speaking to the media on Friday, said the midfielder will not be available for the visit of Brighton.

“He has a shoulder injury and it looks like he will be out for a few weeks.

“He landed on the floor and Gabi landed on top of him, it’s probably a fracture,” Arteta said.

Arsenal will be looking for their third straight win to start the season, when they welcome the high-flying Seagulls in Saturday’s early kick-off.
