At least six people sustained injuries in a violent clash that engulfed Dakumi and Gbage communities, Ebbo Gbachinku Ward in Lapai local government area of Niger State.
Two among those injured in fracas, it was gathered, are receiving medical care in an undisclosed hospital.
Sources from area disclosed that perpetrators of the fight used cutlasses, guns, stones and other dangerous items to inflict injuries on the victims.
They appealed to the state governor Mohammed Umar Bago and the Niger State Police Commissioner, CP Ebenezer Shawulu Danmamman, and other relevant authorities to intervene quickly before the crisis escalates.
DAILY POST further learnt that the district head of Ebbo Gbachinku had visited the two communities, including their representatives, to determine the actual cause of the fight and report back to the Emir of Lapai, Alhaji Umar Bago 111.
A suit on the land tussle is already before a Minna High Court.
Confirming the development, the Niger state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, in a statement in Minna, said the incident is presently under investigation and efforts are being intensified to arrest the perpetrators.
He also revealed that another fight erupted between Katakpa and Elegi villages of Lapai council over another lingering land tussle, during which four persons sustained injuries and were taken to Gulu General Hospital for treatment.
He disclosed that two persons have been arrested in connection with the clash.
