El-Kanemi Warriors head coach, Aliyu Zubairu, has said the club will now look to maintain their status in the Nigeria Premier Football League following their promotion.

The Maiduguri club confirmed their promotion to the NPFL after a 4-1 win over Sokoto United at the Nigeria National League Super Eight playoff.

Zubairu expressed delight with his achievement following his resignation from Gombe United at the start of the 2023–24 season.

“After leaving a Nigeria Premier Football League side, Gombe United, to take a National League side, my promise to take El-Kanemi Warriors back to the top flight is realized,” he stated in a post-match interview.

“El-Kanemi Warriors would stabilize in the NPFL next season.”

DAILY POST recalled that El-Kanemi Warriors were relegated to the NNL last season.

Nasarawa United, Ikorodu City and Beyond Limits will also be plying their trade in the NPFL next season.
