The apex Ndoki socio-cultural organization, Ndoki Union has decried lack of critical infrastructure and bemoaned under development in Ndoki nation, calling for collaborative efforts to change the narrative.
This is even as they have lamented that the defunct Justice Mamman Nasir-led boundary committee balkanized Ndoki people into three states namely Abia, Rivers and Akwa Ibom even with attendant underdevelopment that has followed it.
This position was made known by the different stakeholders of Ndoki land during a summit organized by Ndoki Union, to chart a way forward for their people.
The President General of the Ndoki Union, Felix Akara said the summit was held to strengthen their bonds, unite themselves, examine their developmental agenda, identify their problems, among others.
He, however, expressed hope that the Ndoki nation can make sustainable progress with well-planned, collaborative efforts from well-meaning Ndoki personalities.
The President-General, who also charged politicians from Ndoki land to live up to their responsibilities, urged the people of Ndoki to vote for only politicians whose agenda were to develop Ndoki land and deliver democracy dividends to the people.
Other stakeholders, including the Anglican Bishop of Ukwa, Rt. Rev Manases Okere, Reginald Echika Stanley, among others, called upon the federal and state governments of Abia, Rivers and Akwa Ibom to make use of human, tourism and economic potentials of the Ndoki nation in developing it.
The stakeholders reasoned that the Ndokis are minorities in Abia, Rivers and Akwa Ibom and lamented lack of functional hospitals, electricity, commercial banks even in the face of their abundant economic potentials.
