With a few weeks until the primaries of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State, a group has urged the people of the state to be mindful of who they back to lead the state.
The group, Emerging Political Platform, EPP, appealed to residents of the state to delve into the backgrounds and past records of all gubernatorial aspirants across party lines in order to assess their genuineness to govern the state.
According to the chairman of the group, Biyi Poroye, the sudden wealth accumulation of certain aspirants vying for the governorship position must be queried, stressing the importance of transparency and accountability in the electoral process.
He challenged the credibility of individuals who have amassed fortunes without providing a clear explanation of their sources of wealth, insinuating that such candidates may not have the best interests of the state at heart.
Poroye harped on the significance of scrutinizing the past and present actions of governorship hopefuls, particularly those who have been entrusted with managing the state’s resources amid allegations of impropriety.
Stressing the need for thorough investigations and inquiries, he urged the residents of the state to pose pertinent questions and conduct comprehensive assessments to discern the most suitable candidate for the coveted role of governor.
“We indeed love this sort of inquest, and we want to task the good people of Ondo State and social critics to dig into the past and present of all the governorship aspirants and sponsors across the party lines.”
